Dr. NewMyer began his long and illustrious career with SIU in 1975 when he was hired as a part-time instructor for SIU's School of Technical Careers Off-Campus Programs. He moved to Carbondale in 1976, becoming a Washington supervisor instructor for the Aviation Management program and was selected as the department chair of aviation management and flight in 1993 and led the program for over 20 years.
